In 1999, a young lawyer gains access to secret audio files from the Superior Military Court that record impressive defenses of political prisoners in the post-1964 dictatorship. The voice heard most in the recordings is that of jurist Sobral Pinto. From the discovery of these historical archives, the film portrays the unique trajectory of Sobral, a lawyer of unparalleled courage and unshakable ethics, who put justice above any ideology and stood up to all Brazilian dictators of the 20th century, becoming one of the greatest defenders of human rights ever known.
